As of February 26, a total of 7,132 people in the UK were tested for the virus, with 13 testing positive. Globally, more than 100,000 people have contracted coronavirus, resulting in more than 3,000 deaths.
What are the symptoms of coronavirus?
Patients with COVID-19 have reportedly had mild to severe respiratory illness and symptoms including:
- Fever
- Cough
- Shortness of breath
Britons are being urged to be vigilant and avoid contact with people who are sick and isolate themselves for 14 days if they do feel unwell. Officials also advise people to wear facemasks, cover their coughs and sneezes, clean hands thoroughly and avoid sharing personal household items. “High-touch” surfaces, such as tabletops, doorknobs, keypads and toilets etc, should also be cleaned every day.
